All set for the 11 plus?

Consolidate the learning and/or get some last-minute 11 plus English revision with these summer, 1.5 hour, group workshops.

The English paper of the 11 plus exam (GL assessment) consists of a comprehension section followed by spelling, punctuation and cloze. With the format being multiple choice, candidates must answer on a separate piece of paper, putting a single horizontal mark next to the correct letter for each question. You can view a sample 11 plus answer sheet on the CGP website.

It is important to do practice papers in the run-up to the exam to get used to the multiple choice questions, plus the answer sheet format. In these group sessions, we will go through practice English papers using the GL assessment – the main assessment board of the 11 plus exams (including the Kent Test).

There will be tips on how to tackle the questions and what to look out for, the purpose being to ensure the children are confident and exam-ready.

Details about the 11 plus English revision workshops.

These 11 plus English revision workshops will take place (on Zoom) from the week beginning the 29th of July and throughout August. There will be two workshops per week. You can pick and choose when you want to join.

Dates: 29th, 31st July, 5th, 7th, 12th, 14th, 19th, 21st, 26th August.
Duration: 1 hour.
Time: 6-7 p.m. (UK time).
Cost: £17.50 per workshop.

Who are the English revision workshops suitable for? Children in Year 5 who will be sitting the 11 plus exam in September 2024. Maximum 6 per group.

Why work with me?

I have been providing English and writing workshops since 2017, so I am well-versed in the format of the 11 plus exam. In addition, I have been through this process with my three children. I understand what it’s like to be on both sides of it. As a writer and author, I have six published books to my name. Alongside this, I work with children and adults to help them improve their English and writing. This includes targeted SPAG work, comprehension and reading skills, or editing and mentoring writers (young and old).
